WebQuest Introduction and Index

A webQuest is an online learning activity that harnesses resources from the Internet within the context of a problem or inquiry-based lesson. Teachers point students to the webquest page to find all the directions and resources necessary to complete the activity or unit. Rather than sending students off to search through the Internet to find on-line resources, teachers provide students with direct links to the pages that will get them the content they need. Students complete an authentic task that requires creative thinking and builds information literacy skills.

The best place to learn about webQuests is on the official WebQuest page, developed and maintained by Bernie Dodge, creator of the webquest concept http://webquest.sdsu.edu/.  Also see our WebQuest Guide.

After conducting research using on-line resources, students create an itinerary which includes a complete schedule for the three weeks of the students’ and chaperones’ visit, a map, and a budget. Also, students develop some introductory information about key places the travelers will visit, people they will meet, and events they will attend.
