Government

Photo collage -- photo of Great Hall, White House, China Flag, and U.S. Flag.At its simplest, government is the way that people give order to society by making and enforcing rules. At its most complex, government is a tangle of philosophy, policy, politics, laws, and systems to carry out official decisions.

At its best, government uses its power to preserve and protect our lives, freedom and property and foster the betterment of society. At its worst, government can be cruel, violent and tyrannical, crushing freedom and benefiting a few at the expense many.

The United States and China have distinctly different forms of government and ways of administering laws and rules, and both systems are built upon an entirely different framework of ideas about how government should work.

Here you can compare and contrast our governments, learn a little about their origins and how they continue to evolve today.
